Book #2 from the series: Hettie's Ancestors

Rose’s Assignment

About

In the tumultuous landscape of 1859 North America, Rose Goodwin, a sharp-witted shopkeeper’s wife with a gift for sweet talking, finds herself thrust into an unexpected mission when she’s given the assignment to nurse Judith, a frail refugee fleeing to Canada in search of liberty.

Initially skeptical and unprepared, Rose believes Judith will succumb to her illness, but a promise to her husband to simply try soon ignites a fierce determination within her. Rose’s initial dread transforms into an obsession. She will do whatever it takes to nurse Judith back to health, to help her rediscover hope and ensure she reaches her dream of liberation.

As Rose battles against the odds to restore Judith’s health and help her embrace a new life, Rose confronts the harsh realities of sacrifice, courage and the complexity of human connection. Will Rose’s unwavering commitment to Judith lead her to discover her true self, or will the burden of her assignment cost her everything she holds dear?

Rose’s Assignment is a gripping tale of compassion, strength, and the unbreakable bonds forged in the fight for justice. Historical fiction at its finest, this novel will captivate readers with its richly drawn characters and the enduring power of human kindness.

Praise for this book

The story is well written and kept me turning pages.

I loved Judith and Rose’s story.

Brilliant Read!

This author really knows how to make history come alive! I felt like I’d been carried back to in time, put in a position to help someone, then left to figure it out with very little guidance.

Druga does a great job at wrapping historical details into bite-sized nuggets and entwining them throughout her narratives.

Wonderful book that shows compassion and helping others out. The friendship between Rose and Judith is touching.
